Abstract
This paper is based on Manju Kapoor’s novel Difficult Daughters, wherein an attempt has been made to trace the journey and progress of women from three different generations against the backdrop of their socio-political background as the country was also marching towards the final destination of Freedom from Colonial rule. It underlines their saga of submission, surrender, insistence, rebellion and final realization of their personhood. It delineates the emergence of the New Woman of the 20th century as well as her desires, dreams, determination, trials and tribulations.
