Abstract
Glycolysis of waste polyethylene terephthalate with crude glycerol was carried out at temperature of 210 °С. A mixture of 40 wt% sunflower oil and 40 wt% flax oil was added to the glycolysis product and a process of transesterification was performed. The mole ratio glycerol/vegetable oil was 1,5.
Medium oil alkyd resin was prepared by a process of polyesterification with phthalic anhydride. The course of the process was monitored by the change of the acid number. For comparison, a reference resin was synthesized with glycerol of 99% purity.
Films were prepared from resin solutions in xylene. Their physical properties and chemical stability were studied.
