Knowledge on selected first aid measures among school children, Puducherry

AbstractFirst aid is provided in response to unpredictable illness of injury to preserve life, protect a person, particularly if the person is unconscious, to prevent a condition getting worsened and prompt recovery. The study focussed with the objectives of assess the knowledge regarding selected first aid measures and importance and find out the association between demographic variables and knowledge on selected first aid measures among school children in selected schools, Puducherry.
Methods: Quantitative non-experimental research designs was used to achieve the objectives. The study has conducted in government higher secondary school, among 30 students studying 9th standard and the samples are selected by convenient sampling method, structured interview schedule used to collect the data.
Results: Among 30 students studying 9th standard not have adequate knowledge, about 7(23.3%) students have moderately adequate knowledge and 23(76.7%) students have inadequate knowledge. Conclusion: First aid is the aid given in the case of an injury or accident or sudden illness which enables the trained people to render life promote recovery or prevent aggravation of the injury or the condition until the arrival of the proper medical attention by the doctors or during transport.
