Abstract
The purpose of the study was to analysis of finger patterns among different positions inter varsity handball women players. The study also find-out any difference in finger patterns like whorls, loops and arches of both right and left hand among backs and wings in varsity handball women players. The purpose of the study forty (N=40) women handball players were selected as subjects, who are participated in the All India Inter University handball Tournament held at Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu from 20th February to 02nd March 2009. The age of the subjects ranged from 18 to 28 years.The subjects are classified into two groups namely. Group-I: Right and Center and Left backs (n=20), Group-2: Right and Left Wings (n=20). The Dermatoglyphic variable such as finger patterns were selected as dependent variables namely. Whorls, Loops, and Arches, The variables are taken in both right and left hand separately. The study concluded that insignificant difference between Backs and Wings on dermatoglyphic finger pattern. In the finger pattern, the whorls and loops are present more in both right and left hand respectively. The arches are present very less in both right and left hand respectively.
