Abstract
Multinational Corporations (MNCs) have emerged as key drivers of economic development, technological advancement, and globalization. In India, their role has grown significantly since the economic liberalization of 1991. This article examines the current status of MNCs in India, their sector-wise presence, economic contributions, regulatory and infrastructural challenges, government initiatives to attract FDI, and future prospects. It also provides critical insights into the evolving business environment and strategic positioning of India in the global corporate framework. By combining empirical data with policy analysis, the article highlights how MNCs are reshaping India’s industrial and economic landscape while identifying the gaps that need to be addressed for sustaining this growth trajectory.
