Abstract
The present article focuses on a socio-economic survey conducted in Kashibati, a tribal village located in Itahar block of Uttar Dinajpur district, West Bengal. Kashibati is an underdeveloped village with a population predominantly from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community. It is situated 3.1km from the sub district headquarters, Itahar. The survey conducted during the month of August of 2019, gather essential data on the socio-economic conditions of the village, with a view to contributing to its overall development. The findings of this survey provide insights into various aspects such as education, income, healthcare infrastructure, sanitary conditions and social welfare highlighting the needs and struggles faced by the villagers in their daily life. This article aims to serve as a base for further development programmes and intervention strategies in the village for the improvement of the standard of living of its inhabitants.
