Abstract
The yearlong tussle on holding local body elections in Andhra Pradesh was brought to a logical conclusion by the supreme court. Insead of paving way for a ballot fight between political parties, the issue had created a conflit between constitutional systems. The supreme court has stated if should be trusted that the SEC will use his discretionary powers in a rational manner. The court had earlier made it clear that any deviation in the utilization of those powers would be struct down. Every constitutional system should act within the bound of the constitutional frame work. Following the Judgement of the Supreme court, the Elections Local bodies in Andhra Pradesh were held in four phases in rural areas (Panchyats) in February 2021. viz 9 February 2021, 13 February 2021, 17 February 2021 and 21 February 2021 covering 13 districts.
