Youth of India represents the most dynamic and vibrant segment of the population. With a largest population of the youth in the world, India. Youth is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood marked by a search of identity, decision making and discovery. This time of transition faces intense physical and psychological changes, along with bringing up of feelings such as vulnerability, pressure and uncertainty. The purpose of this study was to assess the eight mood states on rural and urban female students.
Objectives: To study the eight mood states of female students’ mood states such as anxiety, depression, stress, regression, fatigue, guilt, extraversion and arousal.
Hypothesis: There is no significant difference between urban and rural female anxiety, depression, stress, guilt, fatigue, arousal, extroversion and regression
Methodology: Sample:-Sample of the present study was 61 college female students, among which 31 students who hailed from rural background and 30 hailed from urban domicile. Subjects selected in this study were under the age group of 18-21years.
Variables: Students domicile is the independent variable and the eight mood state such as anxiety, guilt, fatigue, depression, regression, extraversion, stress, arousal and regression are the dependent variables Research Design -2x2 Factorial Design was used in this research. Research Tools-Catell and Curran’s (1973) Eight Mood State Questionnaire was administered during this study. Statistical Tool-Mean, SD and independent two sample t-test. Conclusions, There was no significant difference between the eight mood states of urban and rural female college students. Further studies with comparison between males and females with activity interventions will be a an eye-openers for stakeholders to deal with the common psychological issues of youth.
