Effectiveness of self instructional module on knowledge regarding importance of play need

Abstract
Play is universal for all children.. Play is all about having fun activity which can be organized or structured. The child involved in fun activity is considered as a play, but play is much more than just a fun activity for child’s overall development. Play allows children to conquering their fears while practicing adult roles, sometimes in conjunction with other children or adult caregivers. Toa quantitative research approach with pre experimental study design was used to assess the knowledge regarding importance of play need among mothers of under 5 children. The universe of the study population compromised of mothers of under 5 children in selected community area of Solan. Convenience sampling technique was used to select the sixty subjects from the population. Knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge regarding importance of play need. Results of the study shows that majority of mothers (61.7%) had average knowledge, 33.3% mothers had poor knowledge, and 5% of mothers had good knowledge but after the administration of self instructional module majority (55%) mothers had good knowledge and 45% of mothers had average knowledge regarding importance of play need. The study finding proved that the self instructional module was effective in enhancing the knowledge of mothers of under 5 children regarding importance of play need.
