Abstract

Soil type is a critical factor affecting the\r\ngrowth and productivity of onion (Allium cepa L.), an essential crop\r\nworldwide. This review explores how different soil types—sandy, loamy, clayey,\r\nand silty soils—impact onion seed yield. By synthesizing findings from various\r\nstudies, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the optimal soil\r\nconditions for maximizing onion seed production. The review highlights the\r\nimportance of soil texture, structure, nutrient availability, and water-holding\r\ncapacity in influencing onion growth. It also discusses soil management\r\npractices that can enhance seed yield in suboptimal soil types.
