AbstractThis study was aimed to evaluate the accumulation of heavy metals in human body via food products and their carcinogenic risk factor. To perform that, the work was divided into two phases. In the first phase data on accumulation of heavy metals in various food products was collected. In the second phase, these data are used to calculate the Target Hazard Quotient (THQ) and Target Carcinogenic Risk (TR) for each food products. The result shows that most of the food products listed in the balanced diet chart for Indian people, possess high carcinogenic risks from unwanted heavy metal content.
