AbstractAdolescent smartphone addiction has become a major worry, with possible effects on everyday functioning and mental health. This research looks at how common smartphone addiction is, how it affects sleep quality, physical activity, and self-esteem, and how it relates to mental health conditions including stress, anxiety, and depression. Data were collected from a sample of adolescents using standardized questionnaires Smartphone addiction scale short version and DASS-21 using structural equation modelling (SEM) to evaluate smartphone addiction and related behavioural and psychological effects. The results show a strong positive correlation between greater degrees of smartphone addiction and higher degrees of stress, anxiety, and sadness. Furthermore, there is a clear correlation between smartphone addiction and less physical activity and lower sleep quality. Despite a negative association, there was no statistically significant link with self-esteem. The robustness of these results is supported by model fit indices, which further emphasize the significant negative effects of smartphone addiction on everyday functioning and mental health. The findings highlight the need of focused initiatives to lessen the negative impacts of excessive smartphone usage and encourage teenagers to develop healthy digital habits.
