AbstractUrinary tract infection (UTI) are the most common bacterial infection during pregnancy, although all the women are susceptible for the development of UTI but pregnant woman having increased risk because of anatomical and hormonal changes that contribute to urethral dilatation and urinary stasis.
The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge regarding prevention and management of urinary tract infection during pregnancy.
Fifty four Nursing students were enumerated for the study. First group selected by lottery method, that was control group (27) and second group that was experimental group (27). The student in both the group were introduced to the investigator and explained about the research project. The pre-test was conducted in both group without conducting structured teaching program to assess knowledge regarding urinary tract infection during pregnancy. The control group were shifted to other classroom and only experimental group were present in classroom. In the experimental group conducted structure teaching program in that we introduced the topic and explained about what is urinary tract infection, sign and symptoms of UTI, causes, management and how to prevent UTI during pregnancy. After conducting structured teaching program post-test in both the group had done.
The Quasi-experimental research design was adopted by the investigator in this study, pre-test post-test were carried at College of Nursing IMS BHU Varanasi, on the dated 7/6/2023.
In the result, comparison of experiment and control group shows significant difference (p<0.001) on knowledge regarding UTI during pregnancy. There is no significant association between the knowledge score with age, religion, education, accommodation, types of family, income source, and dietary pattern.
