Abstract
The objective of this paper is to analyze the financial profitability of the main crops in the Gaya department. Specifically, this involves identifying the main crops; determine their profitability and compare them through the following indicators: net margin (MN), average labor productivity (PML) and internal rate of return (IRR). The study was carried out in the department of Gaya, particularly the communes of Gaya, Bana and Bengou, with four hundred and fifty-five (455) producers chosen randomly. Primary data was obtained through individual surveys through KoboCollect and focus groups. The analysis of the data collected was carried out by the normality and equality of variance test, the analysis of descriptive statistics for econometric variables and profitability indicators by using EXCEL and R. The results indicated that the different crops namely millet, rice, sorghum and chili are financially laudable. But pepper is by far the most profitable of all, followed successively by rice, millet and sorghum. The results also clearly showed that chili and rice are grown with commercialization as the main objective, therefore market oriented.
