Abstract
Digital banking has become an important tool for improving financial inclusion in rural areas, where access to traditional banking services is often limited. This study examines the impact of digital banking on rural communities and explores how mobile banking, UPI services, micro-ATMs, and banking correspondence models have improved financial access. The research highlights the changes brought by digital technologies in saving habits, payment behaviour, and access to credit among rural customers. It also analyses the challenges that continue to affect rural digital adoption, including poor internet connectivity, low digital literacy, security fears, and limited awareness of digital financial products. Using secondary data, government reports, and recent empirical studies, this paper evaluates the overall effectiveness of digital banking in bridging the financial gap between rural and urban populations. The findings suggest that digital banking has made financial services more convenient, faster, and accessible for rural households. However, the study also shows that sustained digital literacy programs, better infrastructure, and enhanced customer protection measures are essential to achieve deeper financial inclusion in rural regions.
