Abstract
This secondary study is to explore how teachers contribute in developing moral values of the college students in Bengaluru and these moral values would feed food for sustainable development. The paper is built on a literature from reports, research articles and policies such as National Education Policy (NEP 2020) or UNESCO’s ESD framework. It places the responsibility of developing a sense of integrity, empathy and humanity in students squarely on teachers, which are necessary for making society sustainable. The paper also documents the challenges teachers face - they are not sufficiently trained in science and don’t have enough time to teach it, for instance. The result clearly shows how an effective value-based education sets the agenda to build disciplined citizens for future development that is both sustainable and good.
