Abstract
The mental health of faculty and administrative staff is an emerging area of concern in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). As they navigate heavy workloads, technology-driven changes, accreditation pressures, and emotional responsibilities, employee well-being becomes essential for institutional effectiveness. This conceptual paper explores theoretical perspectives, workplace determinants, and institutional factors affecting mental health among HEI employees. Drawing from established psychological and organizational theories, the paper develops an integrated conceptual model and provides insights for future research and policy development. It concludes with recommendations for building psychologically safe, healthy, and supportive academic environments.
