Abstract
Bengali Fictional Literature profoundly impacts the minds of many young readers, shaping their cognitive development and fostering imaginative abilities. This paper synthesizes existing psychological research to elucidate the intricate relationship between literature consumption and the imagination of young minds. Imagination has been defined as the formation of new ideas, images or concepts in one's mind. By immersing themselves in fictional worlds, young readers engage in imaginative play, creativity, and problem-solving, thereby enhancing their cognitive flexibility and emotional intelligence. Here books and narrative stories are the best sources for activities like imagination and fantasy. Whenever an individual opens a book and reads the first few paragraphs, they unconsciously start imagining and may fantasize about themselves. Hence, this study determines the influence of Bengali fictional literature on Bengali people's minds. This study shows how readers' and non-readers' imagination values differ and their loneliness decreases or increases. In this study, we have collected data from school students and college students and the age group was 17-22 years. The sample (N=110) was taken through the Snowball Sampling technique.
