AbstractInflammatory Pseudotumour is a histologically benign condition with unknown etiology but clinically it is aggressive showing features of malignancy. It is rarely presented in the nose and the paranasal sinuses, more common in the lungs, abdomen and retroperitoneum. Here in our study we describe about a 60 year old women who presented to GGH, Kurnool with complaints of right nasal bleed, swelling of right cheek and nasal obstruction.
Objectives: To study the clinical presentation and management of Sinonasal mass.
Methods: A Hospital based study.
Results: A 60 years old women came with complaints of Right nasal bleed, swelling of right cheek and nasal obstruction. On examination– pink proliferative mass in right nasal cavity pushing septum to left. Computed Tomography of Nose and Paranasal sinuses (PNS) – heterogeneous hypodense lesion in right maxillary sinus extending into the nasal cavity with erosion of the right maxilla. Magnetic Resonance Imaging of PNS – Orbits - heterogenous hypodense lesion in right maxilla with obliteration of right nasal cavity, extending to pre-maxillary space. Mass excised and sent for Histopathological examination and report as Inflammatory Pseudotumour.
Conclusion: Inflammatory Pseudotumour, a clinically aggressive but histologically benign condition. It rarely occurs in nose and sinuses. It erodes the adjacent bones but prognosis is good if treated early. It responds well to Surgery and Steroids postoperatively.
