Abstract
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a paradigm shift in India's education landscape, aiming to transform the country into a global knowledge superpower while addressing the evolving demands of Industry 4.0. This research paper presents a comprehensive theoretical exploration of how NEP 2020's policy framework can facilitate the crucial alignment between academic institutions and industry requirements in the era of advanced technologies. The study delves into the policy's emphasis on multidisciplinary education, skill integration, and experiential learning as key drivers for preparing a future-ready workforce. Through an extensive analysis of existing literature, policy documents, and global best practices, the paper constructs a conceptual model that maps NEP 2020's provisions to the competencies demanded by Industry 4.0. The methodology employs qualitative content analysis of primary policy documents and secondary academic sources, framed within human capital theory and innovation systems theory. The findings highlight both the transformative potential of NEP 2020 in bridging the academia-industry divide and the systemic challenges that may hinder its full implementation. The paper concludes with practical recommendations for policymakers, educational institutions, and industry stakeholders, while outlining directions for future research in this critical area of education-industry symbiosis in the digital age.
