Abstract
It is accurate that every individual or nation seeks to avoid war or conflict, as it is detrimental to all, particularly to civilians in the combat zone. The armed confrontation may escalate at any moment, either domestically or internationally. It is estimated that warring parties should not harm civilians in the field of rivalry. Conversely, it is evident that both opposing parties do not uphold the assertion of committing atrocious deeds against noncombatants. Consequently, Four (4) Geneva Conventions were adopted, with Geneva Convention IV primarily focused on safeguarding the rights of civilians residing in conflict zones who are not involved in hostilities. Similarly, Mini Convention or Common Article 3 of the four Geneva Conventions pertains to the protection of the rights of civilians in internal conflicts who are not involved in hostilities. It is imperative for the relevant governments to adhere to the stipulations outlined in the Fourth Geneva Convention and Common Article 3 of the four Geneva Conventions in order to safeguard the rights of the people during times of adversity.
