Abstract
Joint compression is another important strategy in the therapeutic management of both spasticity and flaccidity activators mechanoreceptors at the articulations, capsules and ligaments. Traditional methods include using hands/fingers to apply pressure and splinting and are not very standardized, nor do they possess standard parameters. This review proposes a new joint compression device and the process of its design and development targeted the elimination of these limitations. The device is designed to deliver specific and variable pressure, supplementing it with sensors and microcontrollers for monitoring the process. It affirmatively provides a uniform pressure, light or heavy depending on the treatment process, with data transmission capability through a smartphone. The applicability of the device in minimizing spasticity, improving joint stability in flaccidity, and facilitating functional recovery is emphasized. Also, it has an easy and intuitive interface, and users can personalize the interface to their clinical or home environment. This review critically analyses the principle, technologies, and clinical application of the new device and identifies its feasibility, accuracy, effectiveness and value for treatment. As a complement to existing approaches, this novelty is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the re conval escence programs focusing on the people with neurological disorders. Therefore, the future researchers should undertake clinical trials as a way of providing strong evidence on its efficiency.
