AbstractThe concept of empowerment has many layers, dimensions, and facets. The process of giving women more control over financial resources, such as money, and material, human, and intellectual resources including knowledge, information, and ideas, as well as decision-making authority in the home and community, is known as empowerment. Rural women still do not own land; instead, the pattas are granted in their husbands' names. Women's empowerment remains a dream that has yet to come true, despite numerous attempts by the government and other developmental organisations.
Women can recognise their identity and power in all spheres of life through the active process of empowerment.. This study was conducted in one of the development blocks of Ramanagara district i.e. on 100 women respondents (the spouses of household heads) recruited from 4 villages of the district on the basis of proportionate random selection approach. A semi-structured schedule was employed to collect the data from rural women. Various restrictions, which were noticed in empowerment of rural women, were social constraints, political constraints, economic constraints and psychological constraints.
