Abstract
Background: Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorder among harmonium artist.
Objective: To find out prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among harmonium artists by using Modified Nordic Musculoskeletal questionnaire.
Method: Participants from in and around Pune district who satisfy the inclusion criteria was included in the study. Aim of the study was explained to the participants. The questionnaire was filled by every participant by self-administration method. Total 250 participants were responded by filling the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire. The data was collected and analyzed.
Result and Conclusion: This study concluded that the prevalence of Musculoskeletal disorder among harmonium artists in and around the Pune district is 73.17% which is high. The study highlights a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among harmonium artists, with the lower back (32.5%) and shoulders (31.3%) being the most commonly affected areas followed by neck (22.8%), knees (20.7%), elbow(17.1%), upper back (15.9), wrist (15..4%), ankle (11%) and thighs (6.9% future scope of study: Further study should expand the sample size to represent the entire harmonium artist in India. Further study can be done by considering postural analysis and ergonomics for same among these artists. Further study can be done by creating awareness about preventive strategies, postural correction, physiotherapeutic rehabilitation among harmonium artist as there is very less medical approach. Further study could examine the effectiveness of different intervention, such as strength training, or stretching programs, in reducing the risk of musculoskeletal pain in harmonium artists.
