AbstractDuring a mycological survey around Amravati (Maharashtra) an interesting species of
Camarosporium Schulz was collected on dead stems of
Cassia fistula Linn. For its diagnosis and specific identity the fungus was studied in detail with respect to morphology and dimensions of various fruiting structures. Further, it was also compared with other known species of
Camarosporium (Mundkur and Ahmad, 1946; Wehmeyer, 1964; R, Rao, 1965; Subhedar and Rao, 1976; Magdum, 1981, Patil, 1996) including the type species viz.
C. quaternatum (Hazsi) Schulz. (Sutton, 1980) and found to differ greatly in the size of pycnidia and conidia. It is, therefore, described here as a new species.
The specimen was deposited and examined at ‘Ajrekar Mycological Herbarium’, Agharkar Research Institute, Pune (India) as holotype and the accession number is received as AMH No. the detailed description of the same with latin diagnosis are as follows:
