Abstract
The green revolution technology has played an important role in the in the development of agriculture but it has also create regional imbalances in productivity in foodgrain. The productivity variations in the state of Uttar Pradesh have been computed on the basis of Crop Yield Index method initiated by Yang (1965), considering cereal and pulse crops. In this paper, assess the impact of Green revolution and overall pattern of agricultural productivity of foodgrain was examined in 70 districts of the state by computing the composite yield index, taking the average of 5 years from 1966-2000 and 2001-2005. On the basis of index value of productivity, regions were categorized as very high, high, medium, low and very low.
