Abstract
Although the tenth-act play 'Mrichhakatikam' by Shudraka is based on the love story of Brahmin Charudatta and the prostitute Basantasena, this completely folk-tale version is a rare exception to Sanskrit drama. Because Shudraka has shown adventure by presenting different characters from all walks of life, crossing the traditional boundaries of the king and kingdom. He has tried to present the image of the lower castes of the society to the audience through dramatic characters. Needless to say, the playwright has made great efforts to give a place to the image of such a low caste of the society in the play, so it can be said from this side that Shudraka has started a revolution in the drama literature. In his plays, he has beautifully matched the reflections of the social life of that time, social customs and principles, justice system, ethnic customs of the society, discrimination between rich and poor, social profession etc. The professions like prostitution, Chandal, thievery etc. have come to life on the basis of Shudraka's writing magic. Shudraka has become vocal about the rights of the degraded, neglected, humiliated, hated people of the traditional society. He has tried to bring about a revolution of equality between the rich and the poor, the high and the low. This is like a latent message of a playwright to the traditional society. Shudraka has taken initiative to build a new society by violating the traditional customs of the society. This is the specialty of Shudraka, this is the rise of social revolution.
